Darfur Development and Reconstruction Agency (DRA) has been
established and formally registered at the Ministry of
Humanitarian Affairs, Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) in
July 2007. DRA is a nonprofit-making organization with aims
to reduce poverty and human suffering in the Sudan. DRA also
strives to implement right-informed and partner-expressed
interventions that take note of partner priorities and are
believed as No-harm doing interventions.
DRA is
formed and based on the understanding that Civil Society
Organisations are well placed at the moment to participate
and provide both humanitarian and development assistance to
people victims of Natural and man-made disasters. However,
Local or national organisations differ in their capability,
capability and approach in delivering such work. Darfur
Development and Reconstruction Agency (DRA) is however,
luckily entrusted with an immense
level of accumulated knowledge and expertise and is ready to
share it or put it to a good use. Within DRA, there are more
than 25 members who have practical and professional
experience of humanitarian and development work which was
obtained from work both at the local and the international
levels. These members, with their current level of
expertise, are available for the organisation to plan,
deliver and monitor such work. |
