Programme:

Current Programme
Since
inception, DRA embarked in programmes of support to conflict
victims in Darfur. A livelihoods programme to that effect is
being implemented in 3 major IDP camps in North Darfur;
namely, El Salaam, Zamzam and Abu Shouk camps. 4100 IDP
families are target for various types of support. Major of
these interventions include:

Start up
capital packages targeting 780 families.
·
Distribution of production means (donkey Carts, shops, and
other micro-business initiatives;
·
Rebuilding asset base;
·
Business
management training for entrepreneur men and women.
·
Life
Skills training for poor women and men to acquire skills
necessary to access income for a better livelihood.
·
Distribution of Shade and Fruit seedlings – over 9000
seedlings distributed.
·
Continuous awareness-raising sessions targeting the increase
of community awareness about GBV, rights, etc
·
Environmental and hygiene conservation in cams by keeping
the camp environment clean.
·
Market
Monitoring and trade analysis;
·
Community
and NGO skills and capacity building;

Programme Priorities (2011 -13):
With
support from various donors, DRA plans to implement
additional programmes in Sudan. These new initiatives will
include:

Increase
focus on Livelihoods and food security support.
·
Environmental Conservation and natural resource management
through a community approach (Community Environmental Action
Plans - CEAPs) . This will cover Greater Darfur until 2016.
·
Enhance
access to authenticated information necessary for better
informed programme and development planning through Market
and Trade Analysis – covers entire Darfur - a 3-year
programme.
·
Mainstream community participation as an important element
to influence decision making, facility sustainability and
ownership – West Darfur.
·
Local
